ADHD – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in adults can significantly impair quality of life and daily functioning in many areas of daily life – including: family, social and work. ADHD is more prevalent in men and, according to population-based studies, is present in approximately 2.5 per cent of adults. Statistically, females are more likely to show symptoms of attention deficit and males are more likely to show symptoms of impulsivity and hyperactivity.
Secondarily, ADHD can lead to other psychiatric disorders, e.g. mood disorders, lowered self-esteem and self-worth. When a definitive diagnosis is not made where it should be – there will be no adequate psychopharmacological treatment, and consequently the patient’s quality of life and mental health will not improve at best. Conversely, incorrectly making a diagnosis of ADHD where the problem and symptoms are not due to this neurodevelopmental disorder – can also result in significant negative health consequences. This Test has been developed based on the diagnostic criteria of the DSM-V Classification (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders).
